Being a playwright often involves wearing a lot of hats - you need to be an agent, a producer, a hustler, a cheerleader… and sometimes, even a graphic designer. Having one's work featured on websites like the Canadian Play Outlet can benefit greatly from the inclusion of original, eye-catching artwork, which in turn can make all the difference to potential producers scanning databases for “the perfect play.” Nowadays, the allure of using Artificial Intelligence to generate these images has never been stronger; however, many of us playwrights/humans are understandably worried by the prevalence of generative AI and its many devastating effects. Not only is this technology literally lethal to our planet, but it scrapes the internet in order to steal from artists, who in turn are put out of work. But what recourse exists? What if you aren’t a graphic designer? Creating original artwork can be intimidating and expensive!

To that end, I am happy to offer Pay What You Can graphic design to any artist looking to create original artwork to promote their work! In addition to my own work as a playwright, I am a graphic designer who specializes in theatre-based artwork with nearly a decade’s worth of experience. It is important to me that theatre remains a human endeavour, and this begins with promoting your original work. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you want to create eye-catching artwork that represents your show and gets the reader excited without having to worry about breaking the bank (or destroying the planet). Send me an email to get started today!

Below are several examples of recent theatre-based graphic design. (For even more examples, check out the playwriting page!)
